Забойнейший студийный фанк-проект золотой эпохи. Spirit Of Atlanta - банда чернокожих пимпов, рубящих разухабистый фанк, от которого уши сворчиваются в трубочку, чтоб не упустить ни одной ноты. Массивные оркестровые духовые и скрипичные секции, смешиваются в экстазе с уах-вах/ква-ква гитарами, ритмами Конго и флейтой. Музыка обволакивает обьемом, складывается впечатление, что в записи принимал участие большой филармонический оркестр и спродюссировано это чудо каким-нибудь черным Филом Спектором.
8 убийственных трэков - половина чистых инструменталок, от чего воспринимаешь запись как саундтрэк к забытому blaxploitation фильму.

And now is the time for incredible funk! This stuff is so baaaddd, that's it surely kick your ass upp to the skyes for a deep groovy journey! Just look up to the front cover-art and the badddasss pimps on the back - could it be funkier!? Surely not! One of my alltime beloved funk albums.

While essentially a vanity project for composer/producer/arranger Thomas Stewart, backed here by a cadre of "Hot 'Lanta" session players, The Burning of Atlanta is nevertheless an excellent funk LP that boasts the panoramic scope of a classic blaxploitation soundtrack. With the vocals embedded deep in the mix, the emphasis lies squarely on the record's intensely hypnotic grooves — most of the tracks extend past the five-minute mark, with the epic "Messin' Around" clocking in at nearly twice that total. Stewart's dramatic melodies also boast a sheen recalling Curtis Mayfield's classic Superfly — and just in case you couldn't place the reference, there's even an answer song: "Freddie's Alive and Well."

Если это саундтрэк - то фильм или шоу к которому он был записан бесследно растворился в океанах истории. Но грув вечен! И этот альбом очередное тому доказательство. 40 минут безудержного драйва под рокот моторов песчанных багги и аккомпанемент фанкового биг-бэнда. Целая секция по чумовому фигачащих духовых, пьяняшие басы, саксовые соло подожженые электрическими гитарами, флейты заливающие взрывные барабаны и задорное электро-пианино!!! 10 маньячных трэков с "именами" под стать! Только инструменталки - и только для Ваших ушей! Потому, что все остальные об этом альбоме не знают) Я полтора года пытался откопать обложку и хоть какую-то информацию об этом альбоме - но кроме небольшой заметки в инет-издании об экзотических релизах, полный игнор( Лишь на прошлой неделе, благодаря другу из Греции заметил свеженький лот на бельгийском Ebay (собственно оттуда и ковер - лучшего найти не смог) - и за это чудо просят всего 22 евро - винил диггеры не пропустите)). Слушать всем.

I really don't know WHAT this is, like it's not listed in ANY soundtrack guide, but appears to be some sort of show or series or special on dune buggies and MUST BE from the 1970's. Chicks in bikini's in a dune buggy front bottom left. 1 thing I do know for sure and that is this is 1 FUNKY MOTHUHF*****R and IS GONNA ROCK YOUR WORLD!!! Perfect rhythmic horn sections with a groove this is impossible to stop, add fluid scorching solo horns against firecracker chunk-a-funk Electric Guitar, Fender Bass, Electric Piano, Drums, funky reverberated Flutes and I think even some Conga Drum. Many of the solo saxophone and flute sounds, sound like there is some sort of "veritone attachment" on them, like on Tom Scott's "Honeysuckle Breeze" LP on Impulse or Pete Christlieb's sound on Louis Bellson's "Breakthrough" LP on Project 3, if you are familiar with those. What it does equal is funk It is exactly like that. Super Now Go Go Sounds that will pack the dancfloor guaranteed, tune for tune. This ain't no "2 tunes" killer release. Dune Buggy sounds permeate the beginnings, the ends and sometimes in between each tune there are serious revving sounds. Keep on truckin' is what I say. Just about 40 Minutes in length It's all instrumental, rev it up, man and let's get outta here!!!
